I’m a Registered Massage Therapist in the Barrie area. I’ve been in practice since I graduated from Elmcrest College of Applied Health Sciences in 2005. Prior to that I studied Kinesiology and Health Sciences at York University. I’m registered with the College of Massage Therapist of Ontario and an active member of the Registered Massage Therapist’ Association of Ontario.
My journey into healthcare came early on in life, as an active person in many sports, most notably track and field and Karate. While training for my Black belt I sustained an injury or two, and always found immense relief and support through Massage Therapy. My Therapist at 13 was the one who really opened my eyes to the treatment diversity of massage and capabilities of what it could do.
Over the years I strive to always continue learning and improving my skills. Some of the advanced training and certifications I received include Myofascial Release, Orthopaedic Assessments, Low Back & Common Injuries assessment & treatment, Advanced Anatomy Studies with Cadaver Specimens, Therapeutic Cupping Therapy, Reiki Level 1, Cranio-Sacral foundations and MPS Scar Release Therapy to name a few.
Where my deepest passions lie is with Cesarean Section Scar Massage & Rehab, Postpartum Rehabilitation & Core & Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation, Pregnancy Massage, Child & Infant Massage. My goal is to help all postpartum women & persons achieve proper care, support and rehabilitation of their body & pelvic floor after giving birth!
My Treatment approach has a strong hands on treatment style with emphasis on myofascial work & release, Swedish massage techniques, trigger point release, joint manipulations, static stretching, scar tissue release, remedial exercise prescription with a special focus on core & pelvic floor rehab.and the use of cupping therapy.
When I’m not in the clinic I enjoy being a wife, and a momma to an exceptional little boy! I thoroughly enjoy time at home with my family and being creative, I love sewing & crafting, gardening, baking. I love being active and moving my body intuitively with yoga & meditation, spinning & weight lifting and being outside in nature.
My future clinical goals are to continue building my knowledge and skills, to be able offer a variety of ways I can deliver postpartum rehabilitation, care & support. And to continually raise awareness about Cesarean births, Scar healing & rehabilitation. I can’t wait for what’s in store!
See you on my treatment table!
